The 2017 COLLIO ROSSO Miklus Negro di Collina, produced by DRAGA, is a still DOC wine from the picturesque hilly area of San Floriano del Collio, in Friuli Venezia Giulia. This red wine is distinguished by its intense ruby colour tending towards garnet, resulting from a manual harvest carried out in September and careful vinification that involves prolonged maceration in truncated-conical barrels. The soil of marl and sandstone, locally known as "ponka", gives structure and complexity to this wine rich in aromas of berries, cherry jam, and a delicate hint of vanilla. Vineyard: San Floriano del Collio (Friuli V.G.); Draga vineyard area 0.50 ha – vines/ha 5,000/6,000 – planting distance 0.90×2.40 – 0.70×2.30 – altitude 220 m a.s.l. – south exposure. Vinification/Aging: The grapes are harvested and selected manually, then gently destemmed and placed in maceration in contact with the skins for 20 days in truncated-conical barrels. During these days, alcoholic fermentation begins, and manual punch-downs (immersion of the skins in the must) are performed three times a day. Subsequently, the grapes undergo soft pressing.
