The 2019 CHIANTI CLASSICO Riserva from TENUTA CASENUOVE is a still red wine from the historic region of Tuscany, Italy. Belonging to the DOCG designation, this Chianti Classico expresses the elegance and depth typical of Sangiovese, cultivated in a terroir characterised by a soil rich in marine-origin limestone clays, multicoloured schists, and sandstones. Care in grape selection and traditional vinification in raw concrete tanks ensure a product of great integrity and finesse. Vintage: 2019 Grapes: 100% Sangiovese Alcohol content: 14.5 Harvest/Vintage: The grapes are selected first by the harvesters in the vineyard, then upon arrival at the winery, they undergo a double sorting phase, first of the bunches and then of the individual berries. Organoleptic notes: The 2018 reserve already displays, at the first swirl in the glass, a pedigree worthy of high-quality Sangiovese, characterised by a very intense, deep, and brilliant ruby red. The aromatic range offered to the taster's nose is rich and multifaceted, ranging from the floral varietal characteristics of the mammola to notes of ripe red and black fruit with considerable depth. On the palate, a note of marasca cherry emerges with a return of black blueberry. The sip is full and enveloping, elegant and sinuous. Soil: A mix of marine-origin limestone clays (dating back to the Cretaceous-Oligocene) with the presence of outcrops of multicoloured schists, locally called "Galestro", and sandstones resulting from the disintegration of the "Macigno del Chianti" complex. Vineyard: 3 vineyards designated for Reserve Vinification/Aging: Vinification takes place in unglazed concrete tanks (raw concrete, no epoxy paints) filled by gravity, gently guiding the berries into the tank, without the use of mechanical pumps that compromise the integrity of the berry.
