The 2018 Albasini Amarone Valpolicella Classico from Villa Spinosa is a still DOCG wine from the renowned Veneto region in Italy. This red stands out for its complexity and depth, resulting from grapes that are almost entirely Corvina Veronese and Corvinone with a small percentage of Rondinella, grown in the estate vineyards located in Marano di Valpolicella, in the Figari area, on calcareous soils of medium fertility with a westward exposure. The appassimento and vinification in steel, with malolactic fermentation in spring, give this Amarone an elegant and harmonious character. Vintage: 2018 Alcohol content: 16% Grapes: almost entirely Corvina Veronese and Corvinone with a small percentage of Rondinella Alcohol level: 16 Winery: Guyot Harvest/Vintage: From mid-September to early October, manual harvesting of the grapes, selecting the bunches and placing them in special boxes for appassimento in the drying rooms. Organoleptic notes: A wine with a garnet red colour, the aroma reveals hints of blackberry, blueberry and blackcurrant accompanied by notes of vanilla, tobacco, chocolate, caramel and some spices including prominent cinnamon and nutmeg. The sweet and soft tannins make it a very harmonious wine, with the alcoholic warmth well balanced by the elegance of the structure. Soil: Calcareous soils, shallow and of medium fertility, originating from marine deposits. Vineyard: Estate vineyards located in Marano di Valpolicella, in the Figari area, hilly area of the Valpolicella Classica near the Masua hill. Altitude: between 230 and 275 metres above sea level. Exposure: westward. Vinification/Aging: Destemming and soft pressing of the dried grapes. Fermentation in steel for about 4 weeks, with daily pump-overs at a controlled temperature of 10-18°C. Malolactic fermentation in spring. Yield per hectare: From 4,000 to 4,500 vines/ha. An ideal wine to accompany structured dishes and moments of mindful tasting.
